This is the first take of the fall whale hunt in 2011. The animal was 27.7' long, a male and approximately 3-4 years old. The Inupiat community of Barrow and the entire north slope conducts subsistence hunts twice a year, and the entire community is involved. It was truly an amazing thing to experience.
